Gillian Conway
Gillian was born in Santa Barbara and attended Emerson College in Boston where she studied writing and communications. From 2010-2013 Gillian managed Conway Family Wines national sales from her office in New York. She spent the majority of her time working with her sales team and distribution network in Manhattan, as well as visiting other markets throughout the country. She built a large distributor network in 30 states over a three year period, and discovered she missed Santa Barbara too much to stay away.
Now, she has returned to Santa Barbara to focus on production, local sales, and building the Conway Family Wine Clubs. Gillian writes all of the material (including this bio and it feels strange to write about herself in the third person) for the website, as well as the wine notes and back label descriptions. So she does use her college degree after all! She is most creative after a glass of wine.
She loves sparkling wine and rosé, but also enjoys Rhone Style blends. She has a self proclaimed "California Palate" and is passionate about the wines made in her home state, especially those grown and produced in Santa Barbara. Gillian is continuing her wine education and is a certified Level II sommelier.
Favorite Conway Wine: "The Sea Turtle" Chardonnay, Santa Barbara County, 2018. It's delicious, and fun. Its minimal oak treatment feels modern and fresh. It is most representative of the kind of wine we strive to produce.
